About project

Innovation

The Goal of the Regional Live Virtual and Constructive Training Enterprise project (LVC) was to create a simulation environment that included automation to improve health care, specifically the transfer of care, through better training.

Background

The primary partner for this effort was the Air Force, specifically the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) and the Air Force Research Laboratory’s 711th Human Performance Wing (AFRL 711th HPW). The project made excellent progress in building a software tool based on human machine teaming principles. However, the loss of the original PI to unexpected departure, and the final PI to unexpected death, prevented the full realization of potential for this project.

Commercial Goal

During the duration of this effort, a new spin out company was planned, but not realized. However, two additional non-profit jobs were created, four jobs retained, one company attracted to Ohio, and $2.77M in follow-on funding was obtained.

LVC remains an area of high near and long-term potential. This team was well embedded with the AFRL partner, and the engagement from the industry partner was very valuable.
